What are SEND Schools?

SEND Schools cater for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and can range in the support they cater for. SEN Schools can specialise in social interaction and language difficulties, sensory and physical impairment, learning difficulties, and emotional and behavioural difficulties. The class sizes tend to be smaller than a mainstream setting, ranging from 4 to 10 pupils depending on the additional needs of the students. Often there will be one support staff for every pupil.

The role as an SEND Teacher can be one of the most challenging, but on the same breath, one of the most rewarding careers you could ever have. Some of us, by chance, fall into a SEN Teaching role and have never looked back, other have always had a strong passion to make a difference throughout their teacher training.
