Welcome to week two of the weekly introductions to the exceptional members of the east team at anzuk Education. Today we have the humble and modest Jordan Robbins who will discuss his experiences as a teacher and also what he’s learnt as a consultant with anzuk.

Rob: How long have you been working at anzuk for now?

Jordan: I’ve been here since January 2016, so the best 1 year and 4 months of my life.

Rob: And over those 16 months, what gives you most satisfaction from your role with anzuk?

Jordan: I’ve really enjoyed working in a team environment and taking on all of the challenges we face together. It also gives me a lot of enjoyment seeing teachers form relationships that lead them into roles.

Rob: You’ve certainly become an integral member of the east team and the office in general. What would be your biggest highlight from your time so far?

Jordan: The biggest highlight would be the east team dinners and whole office parties. Good times!

Rob: Yeah they’re always good, but it’s a shame you become mute after a few beers. Although maybe that’s a good thing? What’s your best party trick?

Jordan: I can hold myself well on the dance floor, being an amateur break dancer.

Rob: Emphasis on the word amateur. Now moving on to the schools you work with, you work mainly with schools in the Cardinia and Gippsland network which is quite the distance from Richmond. What schools is the furthest away for you?

Jordan: Willow Grove Primary School which takes me an hour and a half to drive to!

Rob: Good opportunity to listen to some tunes though! Outside of work, what are your hobbies and interests?

Jordan: Outside of work I play for Altona Footy Club, spend most weekends heading out with friends and love getting overseas when possible!

Rob: Altona for the flag this year?

Jordan: A smart betting man would’ve backed us when we were paying 15s!

Rob: Having been to a few games this year I can see the improvement, I’m backing you all the way. You joined us in the office after working as a CRT through anzuk for 12 months and building up a heap of experience. What advice would you give to any CRT’s?

Jordan: I think the best advice I can give is to give everything you can a go. There is such a wide range of schools and they really are all very different. Teaching as a CRT is a great way to find out which school might be one you’d love to work longer term in.

Rob: Love your words. What do you see for yourself in the future of anzuk?

Jordan: Probably running the place.

As mentioned earlier, incredibly modest! Jordan has been a brilliant recruit for anzuk since he joined us in the office nearly 18 months ago. He’s continually grown as a consultant and mentors other members in the office exceptionally well. Always up for a laugh, he’s a constant source of jokes in the office, whether we’re laughing with him or at him. Jordan is brilliant at filling roles that seem nearly impossible, and I remember vividly when he managed to find a part-time Japanese teacher for a school in Warragul – certainly not an easy thing to do!
