Only citizens from 8 countries world-wide are eligible for the Youth Mobility visa
These countries include:
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Canada
- Monaco
- Japan
- Taiwan
- Hong Kong
- South Korea
Some countries have additional requirements in order to be eligible.
For passport holders from Aus, NZ and Canada you must meet these requirements:
- You must be between 18-30 years old when you apply (before your 31st B’day)
- You must have at least £1890 in savings available (this is the maintenance funds requirement)
Be sure with your decision!
Once you use your Tier 5 YMV you cannot reapply for another and once it starts it cannot be put on hold. But it is worth it! In 2008 only 370 Tier 5 visas were issued. Compared to 2018 where more then 2,300 were issued and over 50% of these were from Australia and New Zealand. This visa allows you to work for up to 2 years within the UK and come and go as much as you like.
Cost
The cost for the visa changes from time to time but is generally around $1800. This has some hidden gems involved.
Perks
This covers your NHS (health care) while in London. This means any injury you receive playing sport or just a general illness or medical need is covered and you do not have to pay a cent. Another hidden perk is how cheap dental treatment is in the UK. If you go to an NHS covered practice it will be an inexpensive payment of about £20. Should you require any fillings, no matter how many – this will be a further £50 approx. Costing around ($140) in total!
