Working in Education Recruitment in London, I was aware of anzuk’s great reputation, hearing tales of praise from past colleagues. I had no idea just how green the grass was on the other side…

After two and half years abroad, Geelong became my new home at the start of this year. As well as recruitment, I had taught Secondary Maths in New Zealand for two and a half years and dabbled in Primary CRT in London, so the plan was to get back into teaching.

Lucky for me, the day after I landed, a friend tagged me in a post about an opportunity with the new Geelong office at anzuk. Over the next three days, I met with the National Operations Manager, Teaching Division Manager and the Head of People, Culture and Office. Even Daniel (the CEO) took the time to give me a call. I had to double check who Dan was – he was super easy to talk to.

It had been a week since I’d landed; the following week I started training in the Melbourne office and have never looked back.

What’s GREAT about anzuk?

Autonomy – This struck me immediately. anzuk truly model a high-trust management style. I’m in a remote office and am trusted to manage my time and prioritise my tasks how I see fit.

Support – The first week I was up in Melbourne training and then once settled in Geelong, my manager was down weekly. This really struck me that someone who had such a huge responsibility managing the whole Melbourne office was able to invest so much time in me. This support has been ongoing, through training in the Melbourne office and regular visits.

Clear pathways – Every consultant has a quarterly review where goals and targets are discussed and reset for the upcoming quarter. It’s a collaborative approach, you have input into your development.

Systems – We have a whole IT team! We have web, software and app developers! This still blows my mind. anzuk’s technology is a massive selling point for educators and schools, and it also means Consultants’ time is freed up to focus on tasks that require a human element. 🙂

People – anzuk make an effort to hire good people. You don’t have to have recruitment experience, those skills are teachable – attitude and fit with culture are what matters. Like any job, the people make it and anzuk know it.  We aren’t salespeople, we care about our educators and schools, and it shows.

Growth/Opportunities – anzuk are in Australia, London, Canada and now the USA. In Australia, we have offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and of course, Geelong 🙂

With this growth comes new progression opportunities; it’s an exciting company to be a part of.
