I am a teacher from Swan Hill in Victoria, Australia. Sports is my passion and I was active in local sports clubs and the school community. I was very comfortable, but after four years of primary teaching, I was seeking a new challenge abroad.

I knew there was a high demand for teachers in the UK and was looking forward to developing myself as an educator internationally. But after walking into the anzuk London office to register and meet the team, my interest in working with anzuk Education became increasingly apparent.

I was fortunate enough to be offered the role of Education Consultant. Since then I have experienced the other side of education and am continually developing myself every day. As I think back to my induction into the world of education recruitment, I have noticed key differences that makes me truly believe in what I do:

GROWTH
For me, life is all about growth and learning. I am always looking for ways to grow on a personal level and professionally as a Consultant. I am fortunate to work in a company where this is highly encouraged. My personal growth has been fast-tracked with support and guidance from my team leaders and colleagues. I have gained a lot of confidence from working alongside some of the best Consultants in the industry – a large number coming from strong teaching backgrounds. Many of them, I now call my good friends.

GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES
anzuk operate a global business model. This means I am able to offer my candidates opportunities to teach all around the globe. Once upon a time, I was someone who sought teaching experience abroad and felt a mix of excitement, anticipation and nerves. Today, I am able to help others on a similar path find teaching and school support jobs. I am able to share my experience to help them acclimatise and settle on the other side of the world. This is particularly rewarding for me.
I experienced high-level support first hand when I moved to the UK. I received regular fortnightly contact from the Melbourne Resource Team and my consultant in London. It put me at great ease for my big move aboard. anzuk’s level of candidate care was one of the best I have experienced to-date, and I am stoked to now be part of it.

TECHNOLOGY
In addition to my love of sports, I’m a fan of emerging technology. anzuk Education has invested in creating a bespoke booking system, making the daily supply (also known as casual relief) procedure much more user-friendly. As an agency, we’ve had terrific feedback on our systems, Ready 2 Work app and its usability. The balance between technology and personal candidate care is perfect and I am proud to work for an agency that invests in technology and people.

I am thankful for my time as a teacher. It allowed me to gain the perspective needed to support other teachers moving to the UK. Added to this, I am well and truly settled in the UK with the support of newly made friends, my continued involvement with sports clubs and a great employer. I still pinch myself every day! I am excited for what my future holds – on a professional level: how anzuk will innovate as part our ongoing commitment to candidates and how I am able to contribute to this.

I work in the South East London Team and service experienced, newly qualified teachers (NQT), teaching assistants (TA), cover supervisors, support and administration staff across special education needs (SEN), pupil referral units (PRU), primary and secondary.
