Since beginning at anzuk I have heard my team say, ‘we don’t refer to ourselves as a recruitment agency’. To be completely honest, if you had asked me a year ago I couldn’t tell you much at all about what the term ‘permanent recruitment’ actually meant and where anzuk fitted into this.

For the past 10 years I have been a Secondary teacher. That’s the only career I have ever really known and something that I have always been extremely passionate about. So it was with some initial trepidation that I found myself applying for the role of a Permanent Education Consultant. Now, being immersed in the culture of anzuk, I understand why they do not refer to themselves as a recruitment agency. It is built on so much more than that.

What struck me from day one within the permanent team of Sam, Ben, Oliver and James was how much they genuinely care about the teachers they work with. There is a sincere investment in wanting to guide and see them succeed in the next step of their teaching journey. As a group, we share in the nerves, excitement and disappointments that our teacher’s encounter. From editing and formatting resumes, assisting with interview preparation and skills, and providing valuable feedback, we are with our teachers for their entire journey.

To work in an environment with like-minded people who are not simply there to ‘recruit’ but to advise, mentor and challenge teachers is extremely rewarding. The permanent team value building trust and relationships with teachers and schools, which for me is very important. I also have no doubt that the collaborative, supportive environment we create every day within our team transfers positively to all the work we do.

The role of a Permanent Education Consultant is an emotional roller coaster!….. because we want it to be. We want to be invested and we want to care, because that’s where the rewards are.
