This month we celebrated Maths at anzuk! We spent time showcasing some quick and easy ways to teach different mathematics problems in the classroom or at home!
We can’t wait to see you try them!
Clay Times Tables
This quick technique is perfect for teaching younger children their basic times tables.
Simply use packs of modelling clay to create small balls. Using flash cards, ask students to lay out the equation. The final result is a colourful explanation of how times tables are constructed!
Pool Noodle Fractions
An easy and fun way to understand fractions!
Take a common summer object into the classroom to learn fractions! With this activity you are able to combine the different fractions that make up a whole, as well as compare two sizes. To make this at home use the following measurements:
- 1 whole: 12 inches
- 1/2: 6 inches
- 1/3: 4 inches
- 1/4: 3 inches
- 1/6: 2 inches
- 1/8: 1.5 inches
A great activity for a causal educators to have up their sleeve!
Using three die per pair, have your students create different equations to equal the numbers on the sheets. The first to cross off all the numbers wins! This activity can be differentiated between age groups and abilities.
